Whether you’ve recently had a baby, are a long time mum or have never had children, it’s not uncommon to experience a weakening of your abdomen, lower back and pelvic floor muscles. This complex arrangement of muscles provides the support for our spine, the lower internal organs and when pregnant, a baby, along with allowing us to pass the waste our body produces.
Often experienced as a loss of stability around our middle and lack of urinary control, it can result in lower back pain and the need to dash for the loo! The weakening of these muscles, if left unattended to, can begin to impact on our capacity to fully enjoy our lives. Whether it’s long term lower back pain, feeling embarrassed about our ‘tummy’ or finding it hard to control our pelvic floor. Each has a physical and emotional impact, potentially affecting our self-confidence on some level. Like any muscles in our body, the lower back, abdomen and pelvic floor require regular exercise, if they are to remain toned and functioning as they should.
This five week online Lift & Tone the Pelvic Zone course, has been designed based on the feedback I’ve received from the many women – of all ages – who I've taught over the years. The course uses the teachings of traditional yoga, along with the techniques of Birthlight Postnatal Yoga to gently strengthen the abdomen, lower back and pelvic floor muscles of women of all ages.
What does the course include?
Taught over five weeks, each class begins with a guided deep relaxation to help prepare you for the subtle nature of the practices. During each class, you will be guided through a series of predominantly floor based practices, working with the muscles of the abdomen, lower back and pelvic floor. There will be some time dedicated to discussion, to help improve your understanding of your own body, to explain the weekly home practice and to answer questions along the way.
In addition to the weekly class attendance, you will receive a home practice plan each week, detailing a selection of the practices you’ve done in class. To get the best from the course, we advise you to follow the home practice plan 4-5 days a week for the duration of the course. This helps build understanding of the practices taught and will help you see an improvement in the tone of your pelvic zone!
The course is suitable for women of all ages, but cannot be attended during pregnancy. If you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant, you may wish to attend our Pregnancy Yoga classes. The intention of the course is to strengthen the supporting structure of your body, it is unlikely that you will leave with the washboard stomach of a super model, please be aware of this before you sign up!
