Kettlewell, North Yorkshire with Claire Thomas
Thursday 24th to Sunday 27th April 2025
Join me for a long weekend of yoga and meditation in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales.
During our three night retreat, we'll be staying just North of Skipton, in the picturesque Yorkshire Dales National Park. The weekend will be a wonderful opportunity to take a break from our day to day commitments, re-connect with our essential nature and the vibrant energy of Spring. There will be yoga asana, pranayama, meditation and yoga nidra, interspersed with short periods of silence.
Over the weekend we'll take time to deepen our yoga practice, spend time with a fab group of like minded yogis and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Along with our yoga practice, the weekend includes fabulous home cooked food, time to explore the area and an optional wild swim adventure with Jess. Over the weekend, we'll explore a theme centred around a single word. In 2024, our word was JOY.
Want to know more...
Our base for the weekend is the fabulous YHA hostel in the centre of the village of Kettlewell. It's a gorgeous light, bright, welcoming building with a mix of communal eating and living spaces. There's a fab garden, backing on to open countryside, plenty of cosy and comfortable rooms, giving the option of single or twin share! Should the evenings be on the cool side, the first floor lounge has a wood burning stove to snuggle up by. Along with the hostel, we'll be using Kettlewell Village Hall, for our daily yoga practice and some teachings!
The weekend will follow the routine of simple ashram style living, with arrival from 4:00pm on Thursday afternoon. We'll begin with a mindful yoga practice before dinner to ease us into the weekend.
- Mornings will begin with yoga asana, pranayama and guided relaxation.
- After breakfast, we'll explore our theme for the weekend through yoga teachings, poetry, personal reflection, mantra and meditation.
- After lunch, there will be some free time... to rest, curl up on the sofa, wander into Kettlewell, take a stroll or join an optional wild swimming adventure.
- There will be a late afternoon yoga practice, followed by our evening meal.
- We'll eat delicious veggie food around large tables, taking time to chat and explore some different practices from the yoga tradition.
The weekend will close with brunch on Sunday.

Bring your usual yoga clothes, yoga mat and blanket, along with a towel and toiletries. The hostel will be a shoe free zone for the weekend. We usually pad around in slippers or woolly socks.
